Employee Experience – Empowering People, Shaping Futures

Creating exceptional employee experiences means fostering an environment where people can grow, connect, and thrive. My approach integrates well-being, talent development, and community building, ensuring employees feel valued and supported at every stage of their journey. Below are some examples of how these principles come to life.

1. Well-being – Supporting Employees Holistically

Well-being goes beyond mental health—it’s about providing tools and opportunities that inspire and energise. At Intrum, events like Freak Pride Day created moments of joy and inclusivity, reinforcing a sense of belonging among employees. Additionally, attending tech events and conferences provided employees with a chance to explore cutting-edge trends, engage with the industry, and recharge their creativity. These experiences, combined with team-building activities and stress management initiatives, created a holistic approach to well-being that boosted both morale and productivity.

2. Talent Development – Growing Beyond Skills

Empowering employees to grow professionally means nurturing both hard and soft skills. At Intrum, the champions program played a key role in this. Employees mentored their peers, sharing knowledge while developing leadership and communication skills. Beyond internal programs, I facilitated opportunities for employees to represent the company at university talks, tech conferences, and industry panels. For example, one of our data scientists gave a lecture at the Master of Big Data at the University of Málaga (UMA), sharing expertise with future professionals in the field.

I also represented the company at a tourism technology fair, where I delivered a talk that combined industry insights with Intrum’s approach to innovation. These experiences not only enhanced our visibility but also allowed employees and myself to develop public speaking skills, build professional confidence, and contribute to the local talent ecosystem.

3. The Tech Games – A Collaborative Team-Building Success

In May 2023, I had the privilege of collaborating with 16 technology companies in Málaga to organise the Tech Games, a large-scale team-building event. This initiative aimed to connect the tech community in Málaga through friendly competition and collaboration. The event was more than a competition—it was a celebration of the shared vision of making Málaga a thriving hub for innovation and talent.

This collaborative effort strengthened bonds not only within the Intrum team but also across organisations, creating lasting connections between companies. As a co-organiser, I worked closely with the other companies to design and execute a seamless event that highlighted the city’s vibrant tech ecosystem and showcased the power of collaboration.

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many noting how the event fostered a deeper sense of engagement, pride, and connection within their teams. The Tech Games proved to be a standout example of how shared initiatives can bring organisations together while boosting employee well-being.

4. Community Engagement – Strengthening Local Ties

Beyond the Tech Games, I coordinated initiatives such as monthly meetups, cross-departmental collaborations, and the Datathon 2023, where Intrum employees mentored external participants. These events reinforced the importance of collaboration, connection, and shared learning, further embedding Intrum in Málaga’s thriving tech community.

Employee Experience in Action

When employees feel connected, inspired, and supported, the results are transformative. They become more engaged, productive, and invested in the organisation’s success. My goal has always been to create an environment where employees don’t just work—they grow, thrive, and find fulfilment.
